Born again believers are seated in heavenly places in Christ, the very best position for life
Start

There’s a risk that those who are overly engaged in knowing what’s going on in the world may be missing out on a higher view of life–being seated in God’s eternal circle in the heavens.

As believers we have been taken out of the power of darkness and transferred into the kingdom of God’s Son (Col.1:13). In short, we have been elevated. Look at this…

…God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 2:4-7

Did you see that? God made us to sit together in heavenly places in Christ. Our position in Him was assured even before we were made alive with Him through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Far above

When we received and accepted the offer of the free gift of salvation through faith we were repositioned in Him and seated in heavenly places, which puts us far above all principality, power and dominion. In other words, as God is above all things, we were placed in Him above all things.

We are spiritually above all that is going on in the world. We do not have be subject to what is taking place around us emotionally, mentally or psychologically. We can allow ourselves to be far more conscious of what is happening spiritually around us and in us and through us than what we are seeing with our natural eyes.

How do we know this? Because we are seated in Christ, and He has been seated far above all things. We can see this from a previous verse in Ephesians 1:19-21, where we will be able to see…

‘…what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.’

When Jesus was raised from the dead, He was seated at the right hand of the Father in the heavenly places, and we are seated in Him, through faith in Christ Jesus.

Think about this for a moment. It almost seems too good to be true. It is a dynamic of our position in Him that affords us really close contact, but not only this, places us far above all principality and power and dominion. It means we are no longer subject to those spiritual forces that harass the unsaved of the world.

Elevated perspective

We will still have battles with the enemy of Christ, and we remain in the earth for now, but from the position of being with and in Jesus who is seated above it all. This is an elevated position, spiritually and by faith. It means we can start to see from a higher perspective. Those who take the high ground have the advantage of sight.

This is a prophetic element. We know in the spirit long before the enemy comes what his likely strategy will be. We know in the spirit when we need to change positions or advance when we need to make the move.

The world will always have its issues and its difficulties, but we need to allow ourselves to rise above it all, not in a prideful sense, but as a matter of trusting God infall things and through all things. He knows what we need before we even make the request of Him.

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Matthew 6:33

This is talking about all of our natural and physical needs as well as our spiritual needs. Our first point of advancement is to seek the kingdom. That is where we are seated in Christ. That is where we have the best view of everything, not in the media, in the news stream, in the issues of the world.

We’re talking about higher things than the natural world. We can know what is coming before it arrives.

Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.

Colossians 3:2

That is where we belong, and that is where we are going. We are of the kingdom and in the kingdom. We can enter the secret place of the Most High God any time we choose on ay given day, through prayer, through watching, through seeking, and through praise. That is the place of protection (Ps.91)

While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

2 Corinthians 4:18 (KGV)

We are in Christ far above all temporal things. We are in the world not of the world (John 17:16). We are of heaven, so we need to be watchful and know what is happening around us, but from the viewpoint of the eternal and the prophetic, and in knowing who we are in Christ as we put our trust and faith in Him every day.
