Sometimes we feel as if we are doing life alone, or that nobody understands what we’re going through.
The reality is that we’re never alone. God is omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient. He has a presence everywhere, including wherever we are right now.
Even those who are not saved cannot escape the presence of God. They may not acknowledge or even believe that there is a God, but that doesn’t nullify the reality that God exists and that He is ever-present for all souls (Hebrews 11:6).
This is reassuring for those who believe. No matter what we are going through God is there with us to walk us through it. Remember the Psalmist David as He acknowledged God’s rescue even through the darkest moments, even onto the threshold of death itself.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
Psalm 23:4
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
Ever the Good Shepherd, God rod will tap our course ahead and His stafff will prevent us from falling.
In the darkest of journeys sheep would know the sound of their shepherd’s voice and trust the direction in which they were being led, even when they couldn’t see through the night or through the mists of uncertainty, their assurance was in the sound of the shepherd and His voice.
He will never leave us nor forsake us, Jesus said (Hebrews 13:5). He knows us by name (Jn 10:14). We know His voice. He leads us. He doesn’t only lead us when we are going through dark times. He mostly leads us into light.
The LORD is my shepherd;
Psalm 23:1-3
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
Yes, we are being led, even when we don’t feel as if we are being led.
The steps of a good man or woman are ordered by the Lord (Ps 37:23). He didn’t say it would always be easy, but He is yoked to us and He will make it easier. His burden is light and His yoke is easy, as He helps take the weight of the journey with us (Mat 11:30).
We will have to traverse rivers and streams mountains and valleys, rough ground and smooth, but He will always straighten our paths before us if we trust in Him and lean not to our own understanding.
He tells us to speak to that mountain in faith and see it removed before we arrive at its foot (Mark 11:22). He carries us to mount up on the wings of eagles (Is 40:31). He paints pictures for us in the Word of how He takes us through situations and circumstances. He will never let us down. He will never fail us.
Those who are not yet saved are also closer to God that they know. He tells us that He is as close as their hearts and as near as their lips (Rom 10:8). He can’t be any closer.
He has said that we need only call out to Him and we will be saved (Rom 10:13). Think about this. He has made a promise of salvation that is beyond compare.
None of us is ever alone. He is so close that we can call out and He will answer.
Amen. Praise God.
