Finding the real Truth

Pontius Pilate asked, "What is truth?" when confronted with the dilemma of Jesus. Many are facing the same question today.

You’ll never know the truth without the Holy Spirit. He is the Spirit of Truth, and comes to us via faith in the Lord of Truth, who is Jesus.

We are bombarded with information by the minute. Daniel prophesied that knowledge would increase in the last days and that people would go to and fro. This certainly true of our modern world.

Social media throws up all kinds of information, some of it accurate, much of it speculation, so what are we to believe?

The reality is that if we do not have the presence of God in our lives it will be hard to discern what is right or wrong. Most error is wrapped in a degree of truth. That is the manipulative nature of deception. It appears accurate, yet there is something about it that is misleading.

Who can you believe, then? That is a good question. We don’t want to walk around being skeptics about everything we hear or read, yet we have to have a certain amount of wisdom to encounter the world we live in and the controversies that come our way daily.

Jesus promised us the answer to this dilemma. He told us that, should we accept His Lordship and sacrifice, He would personally send His Spirit to be with us as our Counsellor and Guide. He would lead us into all truth.

"If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you." (John 14:15-18)

Jesus will send the Spirit of Truth to live with us and be in us as our Leader and Counsellor. When we have the Spirit of Truth in our lives He will be able to help us discern what is right and what is wrong. We will know in or spirit how we can respond to the information that comes our way, what is safe and what is unsafe.
