Did you know that your account with God has been paid in full?
Everyone on the planet alive today has an account with God. We have all missed the mark set by God for right standing with Him. We have fallen short.
This fact was highlighted by the Apostle Paul when he wrote under inspiration about the sin condition of all humankind (Rom 3:23).
It was a huge problem for everyone because the sin nature of each person prohibited us from entering into God’s presence.
This earth walk we have is finite. It lasts a few years then we die. We all know this. It is a fact that we have limited time.
However, death physically is not the end. There is afterlife. Life of the soul is eternal. There are only two places we can go once this kernel, this body, casts us off.
Heaven or hell
We can be with God in His presence, or rejected by God and absent from Him. We would not like the latter.
We hear people jest about being with their friends partying in Hades, but that will not be the reality. Scripture is clear that Gehenna is a place of terror and gnashing of teeth. Jesus said this–often.
So we would all like to be in the Presence of Almighty God in the new heavens and new earth, in the great city called the New Jerusalem, which He is building for those who are worthy to be there.
How can I be worthy?
We cannot be worthy in our own strength. Our separation through sin prohibits us from entering God’s Presence. He can only ever admit holy people.
I do not mean this in a religious sense. We see people looking and dressing and acting as if they are holy in a ceremonial sense, but this is not what makes us holy.
We can all look nice on Sunday, or when ever our local church holds gatherings, but that may not be who we are on Monday.
No person can make themselves holy. We all fall short of righteousness. So what is the solution?
Account paid
Sin has caused us to have an account with God. Only those whose account is paid in full can enter eternal life with Him. We are unable to pay for our own account. Our righteousness falls short.
The answer is that Jesus came to pay that price on our behalf. The punishment for sin is death. The cross is the means of this death. “Cursed is everyone who hangs on the tree.”
But He has redeemed us from that curse.
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Galatians 3:13-14
Jesus willingly took our place on the cross so that would not have to pay that price. Only a holy person without sin could qualify to be our substitute on the tree. Jesus is that person.
He paid our account so that we could walk free–free of all charges against us. Guilt free and without shame in His Presence.
Our way into this is to believe that He has paid this price, and to accept Him as Lord and Saviour. The price is paid. Why stay under that curse one day longer?
